Motorhome Industry Regulation/Hybrid engines

Speaking of Diesel/Electric engines; does anyone know if any company out there is working on a "hybrid" engine for trucks/RVs? Both Honda and Toyota build a car with a "hybrid" (gas/electric) engines ... sure would be nice if there is a "hybrid" engine in the works for the RVs ...
Sorry, I'm changing the subject, but if RV sales are good now, think how good they would be with a "hybrid" engine that gets fuel mileage of at least 20 miles to the gallon.

If I understand the Hybrids correctly, or at least the Ford Hybrid, you can only go up to 25mph on the electric engine. Then you switch to diesel or gas and I think in Fords case it is gas. Its going to be a long time before they can adapt this to the RV industry. The auto industry is interested in selling large quanities not the small number of RV producted each year.

Toyota is coming out with a Highlander hybrid in 2005. Also, their Lexus division is bringing out a RX400 hybrid in 2005. The RX400 will have about 270 combined horsepower. Should be interesting to watch.

Remco is currently working on a transmission lube-pump for the gas Highlander and RX330. Should be finished testing soon. Love to tow one of those vehicles.

-If you don't mind buying used, the 2001 models of both Highlander and RX300 were approved by Toyota to tow with no modifications. We have towed our Highlander over 18,000 miles, and it performs beautifully.
