Excessive oil blowby thru breather tube

Hi all:

Question, Have any of you experienced an excessive oil blowby thru the engine breather tube?

Just returned from a 2,230 mile round trip thru Oregon, making the Eugene rally. While there had the transmission/pacbrake reset from 4th to 2nd gear during the pacbrake use, it made a world of difference during the decending of long down grades.
When arrived home my tow vehicle was covered with a fine mist of black oil from the breather tube, also used two quarts of oil during this 2,230 miles. 2000 Allure with 7,500 miles.

Checked with Country Coach rep., after some research I was advised that they had four complaints regarding this matter. He advised that he was checking further into this matter and should have some additional info by the end of this week.

Checked with Cummins and was advised that this was a matter for Pacbrake/Owner to resolve.

CC advised that they were checking into having Cummins and Pacbrake resolving this matter which requires that the coach be tested by Cummins and road tested by them. CC rep. further stated that Pacbrake stated that if any modifications are made to the Pacbrake it would void the warr. on the Pacbrake.

CC rep. will advised their findings on this matter as it is an apparent service bulletin item.

Will keep you advised of any new info.

I had a similar problem, "oil blow out via breather tube". I resloved it in two ways, 1. I replaced the short tube with a long tube, routed down to about 10" above pavement until ...........................
2. I could get the coach into Cummins to have them replace the "oil breather
valve". That fixed the problem for me.

Good luck. Den

Had the same problem with my Intrigue four times on my recent trip to the CC Rally. First one was due to fitting on the air compressor oil drive tube leaking oil and covering the rear of the coach and the toad. Both had to be steam cleaned to get all the oil off
Second one was a repeat with the oil ring again requiring replacement as it had been crushed in installing. Both had to be steam cleaned to get all the oil off.

Third event was due to a melted hole in the oil dip stick tube. Same results and both had to be steam cleaned to get all the oil off.

Forth event was caused by a total failure of the head gasket at 13,000 miles and 60 miles north of Redmond OR on our way to the Rally. We spent 11 days in one of the dirtestiest greasiest Cummins shops I have ever seen and found out how worthless the Cummins Warrenty is (more on that later as I will tell the results of my civil action I'm taking against Cummins and Country Coach re their warrenties) I ended up having to pay over $500 to get the warrenty repairs completed and get my rv out of the shop. Again oil all over the back of the rv and the toad but this time Cummins did clean the rear of the coach and the toad.

good luck in finding the cause of your leak
