Seeking input from CC owners

I am new to your group. We own a 1999 40 ft Intrigue(non slide) and love it, but considering moving to something with a slide. I would like to ask several questions and appreciate any info and experiences others might share.

* Great room slides do not seem to be as abundent as kitchen slides.
I like the extra room and the idea that plumbing does not move. Were they made in limited numbers - not as popular or mechanical reasons? or have I just not seen them advertized for sale?

* In keeping with our limited budget, we have spotted several older Magna units with a slide, 97 - 98 years. Any opinions on Detroit vs Cummins vs Cat? Gillig vs CC Dynamax?

* What year and model did bedroom slides begin?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

We got our Great Room slide in 1999. At that time, great rooms were not popular (we had to order ours)-- kitchen slides were the 'in' thing. We wanted the great room for the full overhead cabinets.

Sorry, but can't answer 'when' on the bedroom slides.

I believe I saw the first Intrigue in production during a reunion tour in 2000. I guess that means the 2001 model. TWI 2004 Intrigue, 11731

I have a great room on my 97 Magna and a lot of the Magna's from that era have a great room. Mine is a Gillig with a Detroit engine. The engine as never given me a moments pause, except for a hole in the hose to the turbo.
The Chassis, I don't believe makes a big difference, except when they changed to the DynaMax (97-98) they also switched to IFS, which is a big difference. My 97 cruises with the best of them, easy to steer, only shortfall I have noticed is the turning radius. I can't speak to Cummins or Cat, but I think all of the engines are solid, just some of the tech or bells and whistles is always being upgrade. Some good, Some bad.
Hope that helps, but as long as the Coach you are looking at has good maintenance records, I don't believe you can go wrong with any of the options you asked about, for the right price. It all comes down to value.
