Used Country Coaches

Yahoo Message Number: 18286
Hi all...I am new to CC and have just began looking at used CC's. Are there any particular dealers that normally have multiple used CC's.
What is web site? Also, I think there is a dealer in LaCrosse, WI...anyone know the dealers name...I can't find on search.

Thanks...Tom Rootness in Northern Minnesota

Tom, try Guaranty RV (http://www.guaranty.com). They have several dealerships on the West Coast, including 1 right next to the CC factory. We bought our 1995 CC Intrigue from them and found them fair to deal with.

Also, take a look at www.rv.net, Class A Forum, Moderator's Corner (a sticky at the top of the forum). There you will find a lot of resources, including a list of websites dedicated to trading RVs.

Best of luck,

Hi Jim...I guess "settled" would be an overstatement. I am still in the "rationalization" stage! My primary issue is convincing my wife (and myself) that it would be used enough. That kind of matches our life stage...kind of "pre-retirement"...but still very involved with work, etc.

With that uncertainty, I have tended toward the used "premium" brands (we have champagne taste). The late 90's CCs seems "current" in their interior feel and have relatively current drive trains. A 36' (40' may be Ok?)with a slide (no slide is an option for a "first" coach). Would like full paint and clean, low-moderate miles. Yea...and would like at wholesale value...wouldn't everyone!.

Just starting to learn the difference of CC models..,ie, Intrigue, Allure, Affinity and Magna.

Thanks for any direction...Tom Rootness in Northern Minnesota

Bill...that is a fantasitc summary...thanks for your effort and sharing the reference with me. One of the real difficulties is the for sale by owners that are asking online NADA "retail...or even greater since "my coach is very clean". Also, you see these MH's for sale for months.

The NADA online does the private owner a disservice by setting up the "Retail" price as an often minimum expectation. When you e-mail or call you are at great risk of offending...unless you happen upon a seller that needs to sell and has been in the market for a longer period. I do understand that SOME sellers actually get these prices...note that many certainly EXPECT them.

I ordered the hard copy earlier this week...FYI it is on a 50% sale...$52.50. BTW...I am an accountant by training (and personality) what is your excuse!

Thanks much...now find me a late 90's Intrigue for just over wholesale! Thanks...Tom Rootness

Dear Tim,

I agree with you concerning NADA #'s.
It does set the owner of the RV up with unrealistic #'s, and there's no way for the owner to know that. A few phone calls to wholesalers brings about the realithy of the situation.
I sold my Country Coach Allure a few months ago; the NADA #'s were useless.

Tom,

As fellow Minnesotan from Redwood Falls, (now CA) and Accountant (20 years ago) I just had to direct you to our coach listing to show that great minds move along the same lines. We are semi-serious about changing coaches this winter.

We have owned the unit for 3.5 years and it was our first RV.

Happy hunting. It is a large part of the fun and does not end with your first purchase.

Guaranty RV has a large number of used coaches available at all times, from almost new to several years old.
I bought my used Magna from their Indio CA location a few years ago, sight unseen other than pictures on their website, guarantyrv.com They worked with me on a selling price, threw in a few things - washer/dryer, dual LNB/receiver, for example - and delivered it no charge to me in South Dakota.

There were a few minor items needing repairs, which I had done locally and for which I was re-imbursed to my complete satisfaction.
Over the years I've bought a number of vehicles, including three RVs; my experiences with Guaranty have been superb, far beyond anything found with any other dealer.

With diesel fuel becoming amost as pricey as caviar, this is probably the best time to buy, with absolute lowest prices for non- slide models from the 90s.

Check out Lazy Days in Tampa. I purchased my coach there three years ago. I offered NADA wholesale as a starting price offer. I was surprised how close to it was accepted.

At the NADA site I see a "Retail" price and a "Low Retail" price. How do you find a "Wholesale" price?

Thanks

When I was looking, I had subscribed to NADA to get the book quarterly for a few years. I used it as a guide and even carried it with me when visiting dealer lots. Just the site of it would focus any discussion with sales people.

Go back and read message #18,287 from Bill Davis. If you follow his link to the Open Road Forum you will find his research...it is extensive. He show from a detail study that "Retail" is about a 33% mark-up from Wholesale...or said in reverse that Wholesale is about 75% of Retail. Note that we are not talking about "Low Retail" but the regular Retail.

The NADA wholesale is only included in their hard copy books...which I beleive many libraries carry...or you can get a one year (three times a year) subscription for $52.50...normally $105.00...on the NADA site.
