Smart Tire or Pressure Pro

I had Smart Tire installed before delivery. It was/is the older system that did not include the tag. After a couple of close calls, I also had Les Schwab install the system on the toad which I read in the coach. While I have no experience with Pressure Pro, I believe a tire monitoring system should be standard equipment. As I recall, that may be the case with autos in the near future.
I have been pleased with Smart Tire in every aspect. It is a nice warm fuzzy when tooling down the road.

We had the Smartire installed on our coach and toad. Our toad, an '05 Jeep Grand Cherokee came with a tire pressure system but it is in the valve stems and the Smartire does not interfere with it. We can monitor the toad while towing it and while driving it with the Jeep system. The Jeep system came in handy when we returned from an airline trip and it notified us of the flat tire before we backed out of the parking space and drove on it. The two systems seem to be pretty accurate - more accurate than my tire guages. I wish there was some way to activate the Smartire on the coach without driving it, that would make checking air pressure before driving much easier.

I have both the smart tire and pressure pro systems installed. Highly recommend them. The smart tire system on our coach only monitors the dual and front tires. It did not monitor the tag axel tires. So I purchased a six tire system from pressure pro and now can monitor the toad as well as the tag tires. If you do not have a tire monitor system for your toad, and have a flat on it, you will have no idea it is flat. A friend of mine had this happen and his toad burned up befor he realized knew what was happening. I have had a flat on my toad and was alerted by other drivers on the road, so pulled over and avoided disaster. I will never tow anything without a tire monitoring system again. It's just not a good idea!!!

Interesting that you have a 2005 Jeep and the SmarTire doesn't have any problems with it. We have the 'old' SmarTire on the coach, but do not have a system on the new 2005 Jeep yet. When we inquired about the Pressure Pro for the Jeep they said they were having problems with the 2005 Jeep's own tire monitoring system interfering with it, so we didn't get that.

I guess we'll have to upgrade to the new SmarTire for both, but we don't like the teeny readout, read only by those under 30! Can't someone over 40 ever design these things?

We just took a chance when we had it installed figuring that if it was a problem when we tested it that we could take one or the other off.
Bob Dickman in Junction City did the install. Our Smartire interfaces with our Silverleaf so the numbers are big and readable by us old f- rts. The PressurePro problem might be 1) Jeep puts the pressure sensor in the valve stem which is where the PressurePro sensor goes and/or 2) PressurePro and Jeep use the same frequency for sending the data or 3) ?????

I'm getting a reading on the rt. inside dual 40# lower than the outside dual, and after stopping and gauge checking they are within a pound or two of each other. My coach is now 3 1/2 yrs old with 44,000 miles so I am wondering if it is a battery problem. Anyone had experience like this? If so, are they special batteries or off-the-shelf batteries?

Walt, When I had the tires changed out in August at Les Schwab, in J.C., I had them change the transmitters on each wheel at the same time. I was having false readings and thought the "batteries" needed to be replaced - WRONG - there are no batteries. You need to put in a new transmitters.

I assume you meant no replaceable batteries. The literature says five to seven years I think, but this depends upon how you drive, since the transmitters only "power up" when moving.

I guess they assume you will change the batteries (or transmitters) when you change tires.

So far I am not a big fan of Smart Tire, but I think its more the CC installation that needs some work.

I recently posted a problem I'm having with SmarTire and I still haven't solved the problem. I drove over 350 miles today with X's through all tires.

I wonder if there is a better alternative that interfaces with the Silverleaf?

That's my problem also ... only occasionally.

I assume there is a bad connection between the reciever and the Silverleaf dash unit or between the interface unit and the antenna.

I think the receiver is right behind the front axle ... I can see a small whip antenna there. I will wiggle wires if I can find any.

Mine works about half the time.

recently purchased 2006 CC Magna the smart tire sensor has no signal from 3 tires and has low voltage from1 is this normal for a coach that is not quiet 4 years old? what is a reasonable fee for removing tires and replacing batteries?
