Wiper refills

Last week in Houston TX, Wally world had two brands of complete blades in 24, 25 & 26" lengths. $3.87 for Anco, $6.87 for Tripledge. Your WallyWorld may vary.

Now in De Lisle MS, local WallyWorld is in a tent & has limited selection. Have heard the Gulfport store, a super center is in very full operation with constant crowds buying everything in store. Trash is piled along roads. Sheet metal, refrigerators, cars, mobile homes, trees, chunks of house still scattered about. Large plantation age oaks are split, twisted, up rooted, dead. Blue tarp covers all manor of housing, commercial buildings, church buildings, schools. Highway 90 bridge across Bay St. Louis isn't across now, having been surged up off pilings. I90 & I12 are busy with FEMA trailers. Some people here are in any trailer they could get, even if it is an 8' X 15" X 20 years old. Remaining restaurants are very busy serving food on disposable plates.

This started as where to get wipers, but we are still emotional about how ruined south Mississippi is. Within the De Lisle Du Pont plant site, we can work & live, replacing flooded commercial equipment, not seeing the ruins outside the plant grounds. In need of workers with places to stay, Du Pont has built a man camp with RV spaces & communal tents like white plastic green houses. Food is provided. Some regular employees live on site in trailers for lack of homes they had before Katrina. Four of the RVs in camp have blue plastic tarp covering damaged parts.

Since leaving Houston last Friday, the effects of Katrina have become very real to us. The locals must feel so much more.

Thanks to all who offered suggestions on finding wiper blade refills for my Inspire. I found 26" refills that work at CarQuest. They are sold under their brand with a part number of 455-260. The Inspire has wiper blades manufacturered by ANCO.
