Large Tree Damage on Oregon Coast

Yahoo Message Number: 19457
We are building a Dome home at Yachats, Oregon. On Saturday night we had a wind gust that brought down one the largest trees on the Coast, over 8 feet in diamter, 25 feet around. It came down within 300 feet of our place. Our neighbors home that was completed last month had the tree drop on their mid section. A 190 ton crane is being brougt in on Friday to remove the tree, six feet at a time because of the weight. The insurance people estimate 6 to 9 months for repairs. We were attempting to sleep in our coach with the slides out when the wind came under our slide awnings and raised them up and down a few times making large noises. We are staying at Seal Rock about 15 miles up the Coast. Inspite of the Wind, we received no damage. Our Dome structure would have taken the tree without too much trouble. It is the type of structure the withstood the 3000 mile per shock wave of the 2nd Atomic Bomb dropped on Japan. It any of you are on the Coast, drop by. We hope to be in by Spring. Our coach goes on the bottom of 4 levels. Designed the place to house the coach. John 2002 Allure
