Radio Reception

Yahoo Message Number: 19482
I am not happy with AM and FM reception on the in dash Panasonic stereo on my coach and was wondering if others are having the same problem. I have checked connection on the rear of the unit and looked at the antenna on the roof and could find anything wrong. The unit is the one with the view screen for the rear camera. I am hoping this is a problem I am only having and not typical for this setup so I can take it to a stereo store to look at it. Please let me if you have had this problem.

Hi Brad,

The radio and CB antenna coax type cables are routed to a filter box which in turn has one antenna coax cable routed to the antenna. The filter box keeps the CB transmit signal from frying the radio's tuner section. So there are four radio connections - radio, filter box-2 and antenna. The filter box has two trimmer adjustments, one for the radio and one for the CB to maximize the signal for each. In addition the antenna tip has a brass threaded bolt to adjust CB max output (reduce SWR).

How is your CB transmitting? If poorly then the filter box is suspect.
All the connections and coax cabling is also suspect - try a separate radio antenna out the window to isolate the problem.
