Digest Number 1768-Refrigerator/storing coach

After having gone through the cooling unit replacement twice now we say leave it on. We had our unit go out in May 05, almost 4 years to the day when we bought the coach. Extended Warranty we had insisted we use a reconditioned unit. It did not work well from day one. Refer would only get to the 60s and no lower. Fought the problem for about four months when he were evacuated from Biloxi and we got to another dealer who insisted we needed a new unit. This time the warranty people let us get a new one due to our refugee situation. Have been told three times now that the reason our unit went bad is turning it off allows condensation to form rust particles inside which clog up the aperture and stops the ammonia from flowing. We leave ours turned on, on gas, when stored now and turned down to number 1. If you have shore power where you store it all the better.

Do you get a frost buildup when you leave it on?

Just a little, especially since we had no reason to keep opening up the doors.
