Paint Bubbles

About nine months after delivery my 2004 Inspire developed paint bubbles in the lower metal edge of the dinette slide. CC in Junction City sent the coach to Guaranty and the affected area was refinished.
The following year the bubbles again appeared and I took the coach to Buddy Gregg in Knoxville. Again the area was refinished. Two months later the bubbles are again present and more numerous and larger than before. What can be done? Occasional problems notwithstanding, I still love my coach after two years and find the problems less trouble and less expensive than a boat of similar size.

It may be the same problem as some of the earlier coaches like mine develop near the bottom of the entry door. It's called electrolysis - a reaction of dis similar metals that evolves into what looks like rust bubbles. CC has a fix for my coach door - re skinning it with a fiber glass panel - the cost of the kit isn't bad but when you add labor and the cost of 3 shades of expensive paint - - - . I just talked to a client of mine tonight who owns a body shop. He swears he has fixed this type of problem b4 by first shooting the sanded down area with (don't recall what he called it) and then re painting. I think I'll have him try this on my door - sure cheaper than the other route.
Don't have any idea if CC rigs have had this particular problem on other models or in other body areas but my general year model is famous for it.

Carl,

What year is your coach and when did you have the paint work done? Was your coach still in warranty? I have heard they are repairing this electrolysis problem even if the coach is out of warranty.

They are treating the symptoms and not the cause. Until the cause of the problem is corrected the paint blistering will continue.
