Pilot tow

Does anyone have a solution for charging the tow vehicle battery while being connected to the MH? This seems to be a problem for quite a number of people I have run into and figure that someone has the answer.

Hi,

i use a 6 pin connector to connect the toad the the coach and on one of the pins I ran a 12 volt hot line fused on both ends to kep the toad battery charged.

My approach is to keep the circuit of the MH separate from the tow vehicle. I used diodes when wiring the taillights to further follow this approach. The tail lights, etc, are isolated from the MH circuitry.

On our pickup, I have a light bar that sits in the trailer hitch and a harness that runs the length of the truck so there is no common connections, and i don't have to mess with the wiring at all. I made mine, but Blue Ox sells them (mine is cooler).

We stop every 5 or 6 hours to pee the puppies, and us, and run the Pilot for several minutes. This keeps the battery up, and lubes the transmission, per Honda's instruction. We have never had a dead battery and hopefully our little Pilot tranny is happy.

Call me parinoid I guess, but I like to keep things simple.

Lots of folks hook up the 12v, and that's cool for them ... just makes me nervous.
