Albuquerque/Santa Fe Campground Suggestions

We're headed to the Albuquerque/Santa Fe area and wondering if anyone has a suggestion for a 42' coach with toad. For Sante Fe we're figuring on Santa Fe Skies RV Park but we're still undecided about Albuquerque. We need to be reasonably close to Albuquerque for a few days so my better half can visit the quilt and sewing shops. I'm headed to the mountains for some fishing.

Re: [Country-Coach-Owners] Albuquerque/Santa Fe Campground SuggestionsWe've stayed at 2 along I-40 with our 40' SOB. One was High Desert RV Park which was very plain, but very adequate. It was quite open (no trees) and not a lot of amenities. The 2nd one was American RV. I bit fancier, with a lot of trees. If memory serves me, the first one was a bit easier to maneuver in...less trees. Both weren't too far out of town. There may be more, but we've only stayed at these 2.

We stay at the central KOA on Juan Tabo as the best quilt shop in town is located just afew miles away on the same street and #1 son lives just a half mile further. It's a little pricey if you are in short term parking but if you can get on the west side of the laundry and are further willing to back in and stay for a week you can say 25 to 30% over a one night undiscounted.
Ther are two parks west of town and two north of town that are a better deal, but one hour round trips are not worth the savings to us.

Albuquerque isn't great when it comes to RV parking. There's two places on I40 west of town as noted in the other response, the KOA on the east end of town, a place called Balloon View (which is a parking lot mainly catering to temporary workers) in the North Valley off Edith Road. I believe there's a much nicer place in Rio Rancho called the Wagon Wheel and there's an OK KOA on the far north area of Bernallilo.

Santa Fe has more choices, check rvparkreviews.com for info there.

I live in Albuquerque. The KOA on Juan Tabo on the east end of town is the most convenient. American RV park on the far west side at the top of 9 mile hill is good too, but a long haul into town, plus a construction zone between camping and the city. I'd do the KOA to be near shopping and restaraunts.

My wife knows the quilt and sewing shops, so email if she needs recommendations.
