Extended Warranty for older coaches

Yahoo Message Number: 22588
I own a 1998 Intrigue w/just a shade over 100k miles. I am just about at the end of my extended waranty. The coach looks and drives like new! I am not going to trade - this is my 3rd class A and head & shoulders above it's predacessors. It seems to me that these warranty companies have their head up you know where when it comes to mileage limits - they may make sense for a gas unit but my Cummins 325 is just getting broken in - same goes for the Allison per my local Allison service center after the last oil/filter change. I'm tempted to "go barefoot" and just self insure but am undecided at this point.

Any thoughts, comments or directions are welcomed.

Best Regards,

If it helps I went the self-insured path - not that you have much of a choice since most won't touch a used coach over 60K last time I looked. I think the problem is that although the engine and drive train may hold up, the rest of the RV is still essentially made up of the same pieces as the non-DP's.

I always figured it's a gamble with the odds in the favor of the warranty guys or they wouldn't be in business and I'm not a big gambler.

Thanks for the response. I'll probably do the same thing. I'm 63 but still own an office that won't run itself so it's not like we're full timers or ever will be. Just took the best trip of our lives last October from N TX where we live up through Yellowstone and down to Vancouver , WA for a week long dog show (we're Chinese Shar-Pei people) and back to TX. Never a minutes problem. We'll try to take one of those a year and a few short ones in between - can't go anywhere without our dogs.

Thanks again,
Glen
