Trans temperatures

Been under Cici today with a grease gun. Observed a temperature sender at lower front of Allison, in one of 2 oil line elbows for hoses connecting Allison to cooler. Sender is in hot line to cooler from Allison. One could buy another elbow with sender or add a sender to second elbow. Or the elbows could be swapped to measure return oil temperature. Probably will not change it, Silverleaf shows Allison sump does not get up to 250.

If I had a new coach, was about to do first Allison filter change, then adding a second temperature sender to second elbow would be much more attractive. While the oil is drained for filter change, elbow could be removed, drilled & tapped to 1/8" MNPT to accept sender.

When the rear universal joint had been greased, as grease hose was pulled off, zerk sprayed much grease on my face. First concern is that I was so stupid as to not be wearing safety glasses. Second concern is need to replace zerk & grease rear universal joint again. Any advise?

My experience has been the zerk is threaded and can be unscrewed.
Also you may take smale point and press on ball of zerk to see if you can unstick. A zerk is a check value so it should open. I am not sure you had gun in proper positions, to release little ball, I hope this helps.
