Is it worth going to the OR Class Reunion with an older coach?

Yahoo Message Number: 40425
While at the Oshkosh airshow a couple of weeks ago I was chatting with a couple of other CC owners who owned older coaches and I got the impression from them that the upcoming Class Reunion in Oregon is primarily attended by owners with relatively new high-end coaches.
These gentlemen did their best to convince me that because we have a 2002 Allure it's not worth going.

We've never been to one of these and have no idea what the atmosphere will be so can someone give us an idea what to expect?

Thank you,

Ron Curry

Ron, there will be coaches much older then yours. The value of the rally is $800.00 per coach and even paying the late regesteration fee (I think aroune $250.00) it is a great value. You will be a amazed with the siminars, entertainment, meals and making new friends. It is the best rally in the industry.

Hello Ron, Please reconsider. Occasionally people are disenchanted with a particular rally but the other 99% love them, especially the class reunions.
Your coach is not that old and there will be dozens of other 2002 and older units in attendance.
While at the rally, there will lots of seminars, a chance to learn more about your coach and ask questions.
Meals and evening entertainment are included and there is a lot of opportunity to meet other owners. You will leave with new friends.
The factory tour day is very informative and fun. Free transport is provided from the Albany location to the factory door, no need to drive anywhere.
It is dry camping, but CCI provides a no cost 'honey wagon' service during the event. Just arrive with empty tanks and full fresh water.
You owe it to yourself to come at least once. My bet is you will return in the future.
May I ask where your home base is? I happen to be the President of the NorthWest Country Coachers RV club and we will have over forty members attending this years class reunion. If you live in the Pacific North West my fellow club members will make sure you have plenty of company at the event if you so desire.
I expect the other clubs from other regions would act likewise if you live in one of their respective areas.

Hope we hear from you and maybe meet.

Ron -

I can only encourage you to come to the Albany Reunion Rally and "see for yourself." We have a coach even "older" - a 2000 Allure no less - but still have a great time at the reunion. Yes there will be newer coaches with more bells and whistles but you will quite probably learn something. And I noticed on the schedule there are sessions for "mature" coaches. Not sure what we will learn but think that is a good idea.
And don't miss the O'Brien's gathering of the Yahoo group. There you will meet even more new "friends" as you enjoy all of the other social activities the rally has to offer.
We look forward to it each year. Come and join the fun. Hope to see you in Albany.

Thanks Jerry, David, and Kathy. That's what we were hoping to hear. We have friends who frequently tell us of the places they go where everyone has a coach that's only a few years old and cost more than $500k. We just don't enjoy that kind of atmosphere so we avoid those kinds of places. Some of the nicest people we've met while on the road are driving 15 year old Holiday Ramblers or whatever.
Anyhow, we already have our reservations and we were just starting to get concerned it might be too "stuffy" for us. Thanks for clearing this up. We have some work to do on the coach since we just got back from a 2 month 6500 mile trip so we'll get that done this week and, based on your kind posts, we'll be seeing you next week!

Best regards,

Ron Curry

I agree with the other posters. My wife and I and another couple went to Tucson last Feb. We had a great time and nobody asked us how old our coach was. We can't go to Albany due to the time of year and were looking forward to Tucson again. Lo and behold, much to our dismay, Tucson doesn't happen avery year. Hope you have a good time in Albany.

Hi Ron,

Frank and I purchased our 2000 Magna two years ago. We found the rally in one of the magazines and decided to try to. We had never been to a rally and actually are a pretty introverted couple. We arrived a day early and stayed in one of the RV parks across the street from the fairgrounds and it was full of CC's. Starting that night before we even got to rally other CC's owners were introducing themselves and welcoming us. The next morning we went in to the fair grounds and were taken care of from the first moment. Everyone is so nice and as a first timer you get special assistance all the time.
The classes were really good, great shopping at the vendors, incredible food and the factory tour is amazing. We also wondered if there would be a class system and found NONE. This is a group that does not care what model or year or if you are an original owner or not. We learned last year enough that this year we will actually get more our of our experience and we would recommend attending rally to anyone. The time you get with the CC tech's is invaluable. It's a great value both for your money and your time.

We attend two rally's and found it a great event, there are coaches of all vintages. I posted picture of our last rally in 07 we are the red/gold coach on the close end, the photo is a little small but there are a wide variety of CC's on the line. If you are going to be in the area its a fun event.

You really need some new friends. First, not only Country Coaches may come-everyone (all) coaches are invited. Secondly, you will miss a fabulous time!!! If needed you will receive 3 repairs (usually at no charge). A bus ride to the factory with picnic and great comradery! Seminars are to your liking! Now let me tell you about the evening events- from the cocktail party to the beautiful table settings -complete with flowers, wine, great service (have you ever seen 800 people give a standing ovation to a caterer!!) How could you even think about NOT attending? Incidentally , I really doubt that you will even be in the middle of age with your coach-who cares? We are there to learn, to see, (friends! Ha you thought I was going to talk about a coach) Come join us-you will have a great time! Christine Cross-Camp Country Coach 2009 Allure 470 31711
