GPS Recommendations

Yahoo Message Number: 40515
We just completed installation of a Garmin model GVN 53 gps unit in our 2007 Allure. It is connected to and displays on the dash Pioneer unit and both flat screens. Works well and didn't require an exterior mount of the antenna, ergo, no roof holes which made me happy.
Works with the standard software included but am curious of programs, free or with a charge that others have used and find beneficial. I had hoped to find a program that could be downloaded that provided notice of low height obstructions such as bridges or tunnels on a programmed route.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

To get the bridge heights you might have to enter them in by hand off of a "Trucker Atlas". I carry one in the RV to check bridges and routes if I think it might be tricky.

Also trucker gps which has that kind of info. This is one you might check.

I downloaded some bridge height info for my Delome GPS system a couple of years ago from escapees.com. They might have info compatible with your GPS system. You don't have to be a member to download it.

On second thought try this from the Discovery owner's group. They have lots of download info for many GPS systems.

CORRECTION: File author says there are innacuracies and he is working on an updated low tunnel clearance file.
