Entry step light

Yahoo Message Number: 41604
We have a 2001 CC Affinity coach #5951.
Does anybody know if there is a switch someplace to turn the entry step ligh off during the day when the screen door only is closed? The button in the door frame only gets depressed when both doors are closed. It seems to me that the button is in the wrong location, but maybe I am missing something.

Thanks, Jim

Don't think so Jim.

We have the same setup on our 07 Allure.

Mine has a step-light switch next to the porchlight and step on/off switch at the front entry. If the switch is on, the step light illuminates when the door is opened.

Hey Guys I have a 2003 Intrigue and there is a set of switches inside the door that operates that light along with other things. Bay locks, outside door light, and step locking switch.

Hi Jim:

We have a 2000 Affinity B&B. We do not have a switch for the entry lights.

They do not have switch for entry light. There is a switch for the step light. Iam in the keys in the winter and leave my outer door open and have duck taped the switch on the door in so the light stayes off. Not smart enough to wire a switch for this.

Both our CC's, the other being a 2000 Intrigue traded for the Inspire, have stair control switches, not stair light controls. On the Inspire it is located on the front of the passenger side cupholder/map light console, i.e. on your left looking in from the outside. Turn off the stairs completely and the light goes out. In this position the stairs will stay out even when the door closes. Starting the engine causes them to retract regardless of the control switch position and even when off the stairs open if you open the door. They will not retract unless the switch is turned on or the engine started. That's the way ours have worked anyway.

Thanks Bob, I know the switch you are referring to, mine is on the dash right next to the entry door. It controls the operation of the steps but does not turn the light off. My next option might be a LED light of some sort that will draw less juice and hopefully be cooler.

Every step I've owned, 2 CC's and an SOB turned the light off witht he control switch. I suspect something isn't wired right.
There should be a way to kill the light for those who dry camp. Leaving that light on 24/7 makes no sense.
See if the installation instructions are with your documents. That may allow someone to fiugre out why yours doesn't go off. Have you tried contacting the mfr?

If the step light stays on 24/7 even with the rocker switch off, then I would suspect the door switch. With the rocker switch on, my light goes off when the door closes.

We are getting off the track here. My light goes off when the door is closed. It does not go off when main door is open and the screen door is closed.

By any chance have you changed out the Kwiki step unit lately. When I had to put a new step in, found out that Kwiki had changed the wiring set up and the operating switch (located in door jam) which controls the entry area light also. Can look it up but it went from normally open to normally closed or vice versa. Tried all kinds of ways to reconfigure, change relays etc to get the light to operate but was unable. CC Tech support was no help. Currently operating with the bulb removed on my coach

The rocker switch DOES turn the steps off, but the light stays on.
The problem is that the button that turns the light off, which is located in the door frame, is not contacted by the screen door when you close the screen. It is contacted by the outer door when you close it, and therefore it is off when the outer door is closed. I have figured out where I want to put a toggle switch to turn the light off, but have not been able to find the right wire under the dash.
