BREAKING NEWS Update: CCI CEO Outlines Company's Options RV Business

Friday, January 30, 2009

Furloughed workers for Junction City, Ore.-based Country Coach Inc. wandered into the shuttered factory Friday (Jan. 30) morning to collect tools and other personal belongings and awaited news on whether RV maker would close down for good.
As reported by the Register-Guard, Eugene, the plant has been closed since early December, and executives notified employees on New Year's Eve that the privately held company would close for good by the end of February unless its owners are able to obtain outside financing.
Some workers said they were called by friends or supervisors on Thursday and told to come in Friday to collect their personal tools; others said they heard about it on the news. Solid information about the company's future is scarce, though rumors are rampant.
Country Coach CEO Jay Howard said in an interview with the Register-Guard, that company officials were talking with outside investors, banks and the federal government and that he was "cautiously optimistic" a solution would be found that would enable the company to remain in business. Filing for bankruptcy is an option, but "it's not foreseen," he said.
