Las Vegas RV Parks

We plan to visit Las Vegas later this month. Any recommendations for RV parks. We have stayed at ODR (Signature) and Circus Circus in the past. The former now seems very expensive and the latter not very nice (IMHO).
Will have car so could be ten of fifteen miles from strip.
We are not gamblers so will be looking at sights and eating! Thanks in advance.

Dave we stay at the Oasis Resort just across the other side of Blue Diamond and the ODR park. It is nice ask for a premium lot with table next to the club house. Pay a little more but the table is nice and if the weather is good we use the area alot. Pool is nice, and they have club activities. You are just 4 miles down Las Vegas Blvd. to hotels, and all the food you can eat. Across the street is Silverton and they have redone this hotel and the eating area and it is nice, not great, but breakfast is good. The store is spectacular and we can spend 3 or 4 hours in there. If you fish it can be a day. Have fun say hello to my money.

Sincerely,

I had never visited Lake Mead/Hoover Dam so we parked at the Lake Mead RV facility and based from there. We hadn't planned on spending much time in Vegas but found it to be about an easy fifteen-20 minute drive from the Lake. Essentially stay on Highway 93 from Hoover all the way to the LasVegas Blvd exit.
We ended up making a visit each day to Vegas to meet friends, dine and attended the "Jersey Boys" show. Never been much into shows or concerts but both wife and I agreed it was the best part of our trip....
Then down to Yuma, Scottsdale and just arrived home today after about three weeks with no serious CC problems. Still the water flow issue but I'll take care of that when the weather allows some outdoor work.

There is a good state park out in Red Rock Canyon. It's just 3.3 miles west of 215 on Charleston.

We stayed there last year. One problem: no hook-ups but it is good hiking, biking! Easy access to the Valley of Fire park north of the city, and that park is a wonderful stop. It has some sites with hook-ups.

David,

We stayed at Oasis at the south end of the strip right off 15 and it was ok. The people were nice but we stayed in the summer so it was a bit hot. They would be a good spot in close and have full hookups and facilities.

Have fun,
Kathy

I agree with Gerry Brown about Lake Mead RV park. Beautiful setting overlooking the lake and not far from LV. Also stayed at the Hitiching Post in North LV. Next to Nellis and lots of planes. Preferred by far Lake Mead.

I posted earlier regarding the Lake Mead RV park but neglected to post the link.

Click here: Camping at Lake Mead RV Village on Lake Mead, Nevada
There are pull throughs but we preferred the drive in sites on the lake front with a panoramic view of Lake Mead out the windshield. Pads were paved with full service and very reasonably priced.

Be advised that the NASCAR race will be on the 1st of March and there are a lot of visitors in motorhomes. Might need to make reservations early as possible.

Living here I have never pay much attention to RV parks. However there are 4-5 on Bloulder Hwy on the east side of town. Some of them are new. About 10 minutes from the strip. The nicest is south of town off blue diamond ODR (Signature) which your aware of. The silverton resort which is very close has 50% coupons on all meals in the local news paper these last few days. This should make the high cost of staying in the park easier? Email me if I can help with anything else about vegas....

Our last time thru Nevada, around Thanksgiving, we stayed a week up in Pahrump at Terribles Lakeside. Beautiful location away from the hubbub. But it's about 50 miles west of Vegas. Then we came down to Vegas for a week, staying at the Oasis. We stayed there RPI, so were in the back, two coaches to a pad. Stayed cheap but no ambiance back there. So if you decide to stay there, go with a premium site. BTW, the Oasis said they were dropping RPI for 2009.

We stay at Oasis RV Resort on Blue Diamond, just across the freeway from the Bass Pro Shop. Have stayed there for a few days a year for about 4 years now.

If you belong to the Elk's Lodge, there is a very nice Elk's RV park in Boulder City. Very reasonable.

Thanks to all of you who responded to my query about LV parks. I decided to go with Oasis. Our coach doesn't like dry camping!
Booked a premium site as suggested by some and will be there in just over a week. The trick now, is to leave LV without parting with too much cash. Fortunately we are not gamblers (but I do love to eat)!

Thanks guys and gals.

I agree with the other posters that the Oasis is a nice handy park.
If you don't want to venture downtown to the "strip," you can also go south on Las Vegas Blvd just a short way and you will find the South Point casino. They have a nice seafood bar that you might like to check out.

Good Luck.
