Arizona US Hwy 60

We are leaving Mesa, AZ heading for El Paso, TX. I would like to use US Hwy 60 from Mesa to El Paso. I know there is some construction before you get to Globe, AZ. about 40 east of Mesa. I don't know anything about the highway past Globe. Would anyone suggest this would be a good route to I-10 in New Mexico? I would like to not have to go through Tucson on I-10.

I come home to El Paso from Prescott all the time via Hwy 60. If you tell yourself you are not in a hurry, want to see some scenery, and take it easy, it's a great drive. You may lose an hour , you may not. All it takes is one accident or a rush hour mess in Tucson and you'll be about even. The only thing is you will miss the cheap fuel in Eloy, though there is a new Flying J in Lordsburg, but it's to the west of you after you reach Lordsburg. TWI
