Hot Brakes?

Haven't been stalking the list for a while and this may have been asked . . . just got back from a Colorado trip with the many hills. I rarely use the brakes, use the exhaust brake extensively. It was warm out, but for the first time in three years I've owned the coach, the inboard rear tires heated up to 170-190 degrees (smart tire). All others normal at 130 or so. I understand 195 degrees is critical so I used the brakes even less with not much difference. The warm inboard tires temp can only be caused by the brakes in my estimation, unless I am missing something so obvious (yep, that's happenend before).

Any reason for concern?

Lon- probably a brake dragging. Its getting to the level where a brake check is in order. Don't know how many miles on your coach but I assume brake linings are original. Any good truck shop can deal w/that. Now's when you're happy you are not one of the 47,000 Workhorse chassis owners whose brakes are being recalled; they are routinely seeing 250 or even higher as their disc brakes stick.

Part of he situation may be the fact that inside duals normally run hotter - 10-15 degrees is pretty normal. For that reason I run my inners 2 PSI lower than the outers. Once we get a couple or miles up the road the PSI match up nicely and temp is not an issue. Though I must agree that your case is extreme.
