Home Theatre/Entertainment Center Upgrade -- Ideas/Suggestions/Comme

We have an 06 Allure and swapped out the Sat receiver for a Sat DVR; of course we had to have some fans put in to help keep it cool.
Since we need to redo the front of the cabinet due to the change and want to improve the config we were thinking of removing the VCR, CD multi-changer and Jamo units and instead getting a home theatre system -- A/V receiver, seperate DVD player -- instead. We're thinking of a Sony, Onkyo or Yamaha based system that would allow us to use HDMI from the DVR and the DVD player as inputs and would output HDMI to the frotn TV (Sharp Aquous). We would also use the front A/V inputs for an iPod to use instead of CD's for music while driving.
This would also allow us to get rid of the RTI remote and use a more standard off-the-shelf remote control unit like a Harmony.
We do want to keep surround sound and do not want to install new speakers.
Has anyone else done this and any recommendations for components? Any problems with standard home theatre equipment holding up in their motorhome?

Any ideas, suggestions, comments, etc. woudl be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
