Adverts and photos

Yahoo Message Number: 3784
Hi All,

I notice many of my messages now show up with a picture or advert attached.
Is there something I can do to eliminate this unwanted addition to my mail?

AOL. Always have. The additions have been a relatively recent unwelcome occurrence.
We are thinking about dropping AOL and going with Earthlink but not sure how well the USA is served by local Earthlink connections that avoid calling costs.

The yahoo website this forum is based on is adding the ads to your posts here. Same thing happening on other yahoo news groups. The site is free to end users, and this is how they are making money.

Glen,

Here's what I had to say to David about Earthlink:
....I have found many gaps in local access numbers for Earthlink. My travels are mostly rural so that may account for the gaps. I end up using the 800 number for access but there is an Earthlink charge of $.08 per minute. That won't put me in the poor house but it pisses me off! I'm a DSL customer who is on the road for half the year......

Change your settings to convert mail from HTML to plain text. This was received in HTML, but I will change it before sending it out.

I have used Earthlink for many years and have always been satisfied with it.
There have been very few places that I have not had a local access number.
The 800 # is fairly reasonable for a quick download of e-mail, but even better is to get a phone card from Sam's and program the dialing string into the computer. Right now, I am using an ISP in Mexico. I could use Earthlink from here, but there is a charge to do so.
There has been on-going discussions on how to make AOL use plain text, but since it did not affect me, I did not pay any attention to them. If you don't get an answer from someone on this list, let me know and I will inquire on another list that I am on.
