Kwikee Step Squeak

About 3 years ago there was a discussion on this forum about squeaky Kwikee steps, involving the little rubber bumpers. At the time, someone posted the CC part number (IS 500103). We had previously purchased these at one of the CC rallies.
Now we need them again. Does anyone have the Kwikee part number? We could not find it on their website.

I called Kwikee when I needed some of them. They knew exeactly what I needed and sent them to me.

I had to do a lot of searching, but I finally found the P/N for the rubber tipped stop bolts.

Kwikee Power Steps Series 42

Part # 1221501 Rubber Stop.

I did a lot of research back a few years and wrote a procedure to install the new bolts into the top holes on the inside of the steps. Mine have not worn out in three years so I guess the procedure works.

I glued (W/liquid nails) a 1/2" thick strip of wood accross the back of the bottom steps where the stops rest when mounted from the top hole. So far (1 month) it's working pretty good. The steps tightened up pretty solid and do not squeek. I initially tried 2 small 1/2 thick 1X1"s (one for each stop) with gorella glue, but they broke loose twice after a few weeks driving through the elements. I'm hoping that the longer strip of wood with larger/longer footprint and better adhesive will solve the issue. I used new stops too.

While traveling, I had the same problem with the bumpers and managed to fit a couple of used rubber bushings from shock absorbers. (I save all kinds of junk.)
