corian counter top

I own a 1998 Country Coach # 10646 40 foot and I just noticed after going in to chech it out that my counter top has cracked!! Has anyone else had this happen to then? It has been sitting for the winter and has not been moved. I have started it up once a month but that is it. Thanks, Brad

the good thing about corian is very easy to fix a crack where you will not see the repair

Yup, happened to ours as well. There was a small hairline crack about 5 inches in length when we put it in storage for the winter and returned to a 24 inch crack in the spring. Been told that the 1/4 Corian is too thin for the application as well as our plywood substrate was too tight, not allowing enough room for the substrate to expand when needed. We replaced the 1/4 Corian with 1/2 inch and the were able to match it perectly along with the edge color and detail. Think it set us back $450.00 but leveraged a wholesale price which made it less painfull. Frankly, the 1/2 Corian looks far more attractive as well.

I have a 99 Intrigue and the counter top has cracked in two places. I have been told by a very reliable source that virtually all of the coaches in our era eventually experience cracked tops. Apparently the Corian is too thin.

Ours has a crack from the rear corner of the cook top to the splashback. It's caused by stress as the slide goes in and out. I forced some silicon into the crack. The silicon rises and falls depending on where the slide is. I wouldn't bother fixing it as only we can see/find the crack and I think it would only break again in the future. It doesn't bother us enough to do anything about it.

Back in about 2000 I lived in Northern Indiana. At the time I had a '94 Wanderlodge that I stored all winter. I would visit most weekends and run the generator and/or the engine. On one of those visits I noticed the galley counter top was broken. I looked around and every single counter top in the coach was broken. There had been no un-authorized entry. A very cold snap had been griping the area and I am certain that the counters were broken by the cold.
I was insured by Progressive at the time. They sent out an adjuster who concurred that they had been broken by the cold. He also said that he had never seen any such thing before. I was fortunate that the bus converter Angola Coach was just down the road. They replaced everything and all was well. I was happy......Progressive, not so much.
