Has anyone installed a Safe T Plus steering stabilizer on a CC? My 2006 Inspire 36' tends to wander a bit And, Yes I checked alignment, ride height and tire pressure, all are correct. Thanks for any help. Ray Inspire #51692

Toe-in spec is 1/32" plus or minus 1/32". So you can increase toe-in to 1/8" and still be within spec. With a little help from Mikee (who I met in this group) I increased toe-in on my 36 footer to 1/8" and tracking improved. Toe-in was originally set to 0" Also increased ride height by 1" to help stop front end from bottoming out. I'am keeping an eye on tire wear.

Also try moving as much weight forward as possible if you have 4 slides and 36' length. Ours was rear heavy, front light. Moving weight up front and adding 2 more coach batteries (for a total of 6) made a huge difference in wandering with no other changes.
It sounds too simple but it worked for us. I heard the idea on another list where a driver was talking about the effect on his rear heavy coach. Check out the factory weight diagram in your documents or, ideallyh, have yhour coach 4 corner weighed. You will probably find your rear weight is less than 1,000 pounds from the limit of 20,000. Ours was 19,600 versus a limit of 20,000.
The front weight was light in comparison having more than 3,000 lbs capacity left.
I moved everything I could with any weight into the forward compartment and added the batteries later. Just the weight shift made some difference. It changed the coach from being exhausting to drive to a pleasure on a par with our 2000 Intrigue.

Ray,

I had a loose steering wandering problem from the initial purchase with my coach - thought that it maybe was normal (My first coach). Then CC went south before I could get may punch list worked. So took the coach to Colton Truck in Southern California and they found that it indeed had too much play in the steering. The fix was to replace the draglink ends and now it is a dream to drive, not as tight as a race car but fixes the problem of having to constantly correct to keep it driving true. Possibly this is causing your problem as well.

I have a 2000 Magna and 6 months after I bought it in '07, I had and alignment shop look at the front end. They recommended that i replace both tie rods and the drag link. This is where the problems started. No one informed me that the much touted Dana Kirkstall company that made the front end had gone belly up. No parts available. I tried ordering them from CC but they just put me off. Because the front ends were made in France and used no off the shelf components, I was SOL.
I found an alignment co in Eugene called Kaiser and they have manufactured the components albeit about 4 times as expensive or around $500 each for the components. There was also a machine shop somewhere who would completely rebuild the front end for around 8K. The owner had a Featherlight with the same fron end.

I'm living with the issue for awile.

I put a Safety plus stabilizer on my 94 Affinity. Really works good.
Wife was driving and had a front tire blow out. Didn't have any problem steering.

Gary,

Length is 45'

If you need more information on what was done, call Colton Truck at 909 825-4080 ask for Ed Doltar. I was just there a week ago, so he will remember the job that he did and can explain in detail.
