leaking windows

First time to rv-ing. We just returned from 2000+ mile trip in our new CC and everything was wonderful UNTIL we ran into heavy rain on the way home.

Every window leaked and I mean BIG TIME (leaving water stains on upholstery on window coverings) water leaked from under fridge, skylight in shower as well as both exhaust vents..

Has any one had this problem????

Hi, Buddy

After delivery, while we were installing the MotoSat, I noticed that the upper right side marker light had not been caulked properly.
Someone at CC had noted it with a grease pencil during inspection, but it had never been fixed. I then went around and checked out the entire roof, and all else was fine.
We ran into some rain on the way back from Florida, but not hard rain.

No leaks at all, nor with the hose while washing coach.
I will say the window at the sink looks like it is racked, although it is tight and does not leak. Holland ordered a new window unit, and it came in looking crooked also. CC said "that's how they are" I chose to leave it alone, since it is tight.

Hi, Buddy and Lila-----I'm sorry to hear of your severe leak problem. I also have an 03 Allure and have had zero leak problems. From your description, it sounds like a whole mfg. step ( caulking ) was by-passed for your coach and the final inspection procedure missed it. If I were you I would go directly to the factory for a remedy, including replacement of damaged upholstery, etc. My experience has been that they will bend over backwards when they are clearly at fault. I don't know who your dealer is, but I submit few are able or have the desire to handle a problem of a magnitude such as yours. I suggest you start with Jim Cooley at Junction City.
Good luck,

Hi Buddy and Lila,

We have a 2000 Allure. We had some leaks with our windows and with the refrigerator also. The leaks with the windows stained the window coverings also. Our dealer was able to repair all the leaks with ease and they also replaced all of the window coverings that were stained. This was all done under warranty with no expense to use. I did not go to Junction City because I would have had to travel across country to get there. My dealer has an excellent group of techs and mechanics to fix things.

We have a 2002 Allure (# 30778) and we have had leaks at most windows. We haven't driven in hard rain, but when it is parked the inside tracks seem to take on a lot of water.

I pointed this out to our dealer - who didn't seem to have a clue about it. One suggestion was that a few of the little plastic "weep hole covers" were missing, and we have replaced them with no change.
I have also written to CC - no response so far. At least we haven't damaged upholstery or blinds YET.

In the same letter to CC I mentioned a few other items which should be under warranty (our year is up the end of March), but no response from them at this point.

You didn't say where the water was leaking in. If it is only in the window track I think that might be normal for our (CC) windows. I have had that on two CC's. Have you checked to see if the weep holes are clogged and not draining? The weep hole covers only stop(?) water from coming in.... they don't do anything in the drain process that I know of.
I trust that CC will stand behind any and all warranty issues..... but I would suggest that you get them to acknowledge the open items. I use email only and follow up myself if there is no response. Don't leave it to chance!

If I seem to be overly concerned about this problem. it's for good reason. First of all, anyone who has had a coach with leaks over any period of time knows how devastating they can be. Wood rot can destroy the value of a coach. Secondly, the leaks are "BIG TIME in EVERY WINDOW AND THE VENTS".As one who spent his entire career in manufacturing concerns I know this indicates a breakdown in quality control which is inexcusable. The appropriate people at CC need to know about this episode so corrective action can be taken. I may be naive, but I truly believe responsible people at the factory should be ( and would want to be ) involved---not just a dealer. I had leaks in my 00 Intrigue which the dealer worked on three times. I finally got mad and went halfway across the country to the factory and got complete satisfaction.

It is our understanding that the "weep holes" are put in the CC to rid the CC of condensation that may form on the inside of the windows such as is found in regular houses and the "vent covers" are to prevent water from entering the CC.

It is our opinion there should be NO LEAKS (except normal condensation) in the CC.

We, also, are concerned with future rot as well as mildew!!!!!

We really APPRECIATE this message board. The input has been so helpful!!!

Buddy and Lila, I've owned three CCs and none of them had leaks
anywhere. I've had several prolems during waranty and CC or the dealer has fixed them all. This leaking problem of yours is serious and is an obbious breakdown in quality control at the factory. Get them on it as soon as possible before you experience further damage. jerry in NM, '00 Magna.
