Slide Creeps Out

Within a day or two the front slide on my 2003 Allure begins to creep out. The longer I wait, the greater the extension. On a previous coach--not a Country Coach--I had the same problem and had to replace one of the solenoids. Has anyone had this problem? What was the fix?

I have had this problem intermittently but I have not had it fixed. It seems that if I run the slide in and out a couple of times and make sure I hold the button for the required "n" seconds (where "n" is outlined in the manual) it seems to be fine for a while. I suspect a sticking check valve but don't know.

I found a dirty check valve. Clean valve, problem gone. Not sure on the later ones, but suspect they have the same type thing. Found the service manuel on line and that was the #1 thing to do first. Then look at valve, cylinders, etc.

Herb,

I had the same problem. I found that the hydraulic fluid level for the slides was low. I added the appropriate amount of fluid and haven't had a problem since.
If you do add fluid, be careful not to allow any dirt or other contaminants into the reservoir.

I found the rubber cover moves and doesn't allow the latch to engage fully. Push the latch fully to the inside of the coach (on mine anyway) then kind of wiggle the cover around. The fixes it for a long time before I have to do it again.

My bedroom slide creeps in. It is the solenoid. I bought a replacement but, haven't installed it yet. I keep thinking it is some debris as it sometime works OK. If mine crept out, I'd replace the solenoid ASAP. Having the bedroom get smaller at night is one thing, having the coach get wider while driving, that's something entirely different.

HWH is great at helping answer questions.
It is most likely the solenoid, particularly if it gets better for a short peroid of time after y0u have run the slide in and out several times. If you chose, solenoids can be moved around to see if the problem moves. However, here are a few things to check first.

1. If you have multiple slides, set all the slides in the correct position then check the fluid.
2. Check every point (connection) that you can for a slight leak of fluid. If there is a slight leak, it acts just like a dirty solenoid,
allowing the piston to de-pressurize thus the slide creeps out/or in. Of course, if a leak continues, over time the slide will not move at all and it does make an oily mess.
Good luck.

All I can talk about is my own experience. I have a 07 Magna with 4 slides. The HWH power pack in the forward electronics bay has 8 solenoids which handle extension and retraction. Solenoids provided by HWH prior to the manuf. of mine May 06 had no screen to protect from debris entering the valve assembly. I have had 2 problems with 2 different slides creeping in when extended. HWH personnel will tell you which solenoid to replace based on which slide is the problem. I personally replaced both extend and retract with the newer valve and have had no more problems.
