Step Stop Relocation

Yahoo Message Number: 62250
Hi Country Coach Owners,

The steps were squeaking loudly when steped on.
With the steps retracted, the front stops were removed and inspected.
The rubber portion was split about 1/3 of the way completely through on the rubber bumper face. They were reinstalled and inspected from the outside looking at an angle.
In the extended position, it was noted that less than 1/5 was actually contacting the stop.
First, the rubber was repaired by applying Mxbon 424 super glue and sprinkling on baking soda prior to squeezing the split rubber halves together in a vise. Gorilla superglue (not their regular glue) may be used.
Next, new holes were drilled one inch outboard of the existing rubber stop holes with the stops in the extended position and then the stops were moved to the new holes in the retracted position. Do not extend the steps without the stops installed.
The rear stops were unworn as they lined up with the rear step assembly/

Photos are attached titled Extended Step Stop Relocation.
While the bottom plate was removed to gain access to the stops, the plate was sanded and repainted.
