Dry PTO

Just talked to Holland Motorhome in Holland Michigan to see if they could put a wet kit on my 2008 Intrigue. They called back and said they can only find information on Affinity and Magna's that need the wet kit and are not sure the wet kits they can get would fit my Intrigue. Further, they couldn't find any info that my year and model would need one. Any lists that show all the models that should have a wet kit installed.

Seems to be the case of physical inspection is the ONLY way to be sure if you need one or not. Seems the Cat engines need it less then others. Seems to be such an on again- off again thing at factory.

Dave, in my reading and recall of what seems like 100's of posts on this Group over the past 2 years on the PTO problem I would guess there is a reasonable chance you need a wet kit.
The Country Coach recall only went as far as Affinity and Magna, as CC apparently felt the 'lighter and smaller engined' Intrigues, Allures, and Inspires (I think? Could be wrong on that model) would not be a problem. I think this is what the Holland's opinion may be based upon. WRONG.
Read PTI 101a in this Group's files if you have not done so. The pictures there may help you identify your set-up. The majority on the PTO stories posted here were with the Intrigues, Allures, and Inspires. Cummins engined rigs can have cooling and power steering failure, Cat 'only' cooling failures. If you take the ignorance is bliss route and have a failure you could end up paying 2-4 times as much, or more for repairs.
It would be my recommendation to take the coach to a shop experienced in Country Coach PTO identification and service.
I had to have it done on mine . . . and I wouldn't be surprised if your coach was built within 12 months of mine.

How do I go about finding shops familiar with the CC PTO problens? Holland MH doesn't seem to be a good source. I am leaving Traverse City, MI in early Oct., going to Illinois for a week or so, and then down to Ft. Myers, Fl. area. Any suggestions?

If you go the the Country Coach International Club website (you should join us while there) there is a list of not only experienced sources of advice and repairs but many offer discounts to Club members.

The issue with the PTO proble is there is no warning of a problem, failure can cause loss of steering assist and /or overheating not to mention expensive repair bills. The fix costs less than my last service bill.
As Lee suggested, read the PTO101a file in the files section. All things will become much clearer.

Since you mentioned your travel plans . . . going to Illinois, and then down to Ft. Myers, Fl. area . . . perhaps someone on that travel path can make a suggestion. I personally can not make a recommendation in the areas you will pass through.
One option would be to contact John Davis, who might get the PTO drop shipped to a shop he knows on your route.

One suggestion I would have would be to contact John Davis. He has supplied these kits to people across the country and has probably provided installation advice to shops that have installed the kits (at least he offers to do so whether shops have taken him up on the offer is another subject). He may have a list of shops along your route that he has worked with in the past.

Pantropic Cat power in Ft Myers is a good possibility if driving that far is not an issue.. Give Gary a call, 239 337 4222 ext 207. He is familiar with Dry PTO.
