Silverleaf battery settings

I have just replaced my House AGM batteries. This is the second time they have been replaced, each time lasting only 3 yrs. My question is, Does Silverleaf have a setting for the type of battery it is charging. It maybe set on wet cell batteries and not AGM. If so how do I reset it? Thanks

You can check the battery type by using the Silverleaf unit on your dash. Press "HOME" button repeatedly until you see the "PROSINE SETTINGS" screen. The second line from the bottom is "BATTERY TYPE". It should be set to "GEL".
If it is not, then you will have to press "PROG" button on the unit to get to the "VMS PREFERENCES" screen and enter the correct "PROSINE CODE" to give you access to change the BATTERY TYPE" setting on the settings screen.
If you need to change the battery type setting, call Silverleaf and ask them for the code. I used to have it and may be able to find it if you need it.

Smiley, if you replaced AGM with AGM you should NOT set your battery type to GEL. You should set it to AGM.

Just to let you know our 05 only has wet cell and Gel settings, no agm.

Same on the 06's. I confirmed with Silverleaf when I got my new batteries.

Well, that is very interesting. My '04 Allure has WET GEL and AGM. Not through Silverleaf but through Xantrex.
I'm also surprised that SL would tell you to use GEL setting on AGM rather than WET. The charge regimen for AGM is nearly identical to WET and not like GEL at all.
No matter what SL says I would not set my charger to GEL for AGM batteries. A true GEL charging regimen will destroy AGM batteries.

Does the silverleaf control the battery charging process or does it simply monitor the charging process???
If it only monitors the process, Smiley needs to change the charging parameters of whatever is actually charging his batteries as it is obviously charging too much and "killing off" his batteries...
Don't know about the newer coaches, but my ol' magna has a Hart inverter/charger and can be set to the proper setting for lead-acid, gel, etc. at the Hart Interface Panel or by setting the "dip" switches on top of the inverter/charger itself...

Here are some quotes from my Xantrex prosine 3.0 manual:
Battery Type Selection: The DIP switch for "Battery Type" allows you to set the charge output of the Prosine inverter/charger for the charging characteristics of sealed lead acid "gel" batteries, or for the charging characteristics of conventional flooded "wet" batteries. If you can add water to your batteries, this switch should be set to the FLOODED position. If your batteries are sealed, then set this switch to the GEL position even if they use starved-electrolyte technology rather than gelled electrolyte technology.

It also state that if you set the inverter to Wet Cell you risk running a equilization mode which is a no no for AGM's.
There is also a chart showing many brand of batteries and the AGMGel batteries specify a GEL setting.
I checked the Dekka bettery website which is what my coach has and they also state to treat the AGM's like Gel in the charge setup.
I also see that my Manual that came with the coach and it shows that the setting should be GEL for the original bateries which were Lifeline agm's.
