Hi Temps Recorded/Programming Question

Don,

Yes, I have a Long list of High Temp warnings in the Silverleaf Diagnose Log. It was in the Log when I was at Cummins-NW-Coburg in July tooo. But they could not find a problem. Not like I was the first owner to have the problem.
What do you think is the cause for all the Module failures?? Poor component quality??, High Temperature??, Vibration??, ? ? ? ? My frustration is, that I use to work for companies that had a High Priority to Fixing Products failure to improved our products , not just continue with the status quo.
Seems Saucer-Danfoss would be interested in reducing the failure rate, but I guess they are just very Happy with all the replacement component Business.
Not the way I learned to do Business...

PS: I'm getting different information about Module programming. Some say it comes pre-programed, others say it can not be post manufacturer programmed, others say re-programming of an existing unit can correct the erratic operation. Supposedly John Wolf at Cummins-NW is the expert of this type situation. If so, miss me when I was in Coburg in July 2010, with my Long Written List of High Temp Happenings. It bothersome when you go to a service facility & they find nothing wrong. Guess they think you were just imagining the situation. Better Stop....

Lee, All I can tell you is on my 03 Allure 1st Ave. ISL 370, I watched Steve Stoney of Country Coach program my SD Fan Controller with his Lap Top while I was stationary bringing the coach engine from cold up to 185 degree's.
After a few years of this one working A-OK it went out, I replace Air and Temp Sensors and still needed a new SD Fan Controller which CC sent me "free" and they programed it before shipping to me.
I like you have read where the Pt.# determines the program, but the about is what happened on my coach.

As to the programming, SD told me they are programmed at SD before they are sent. The programming is part# specific. They can also be programmed in the field according to SD. If you look at the potted side, you will see a little purple "knob" sticking out of the potting. That is where the e prom gets programming from an outside source. In fact, Coach Care will tell you that controllers have to be programmed there and they will hit you for a few more bucks to do so. You would think that in this modern age programming would be done through the wiring somehow but it isn't.
The modules are made the same for every part number, it is the code that makes a 1090409 into another part numbered 1234567. Monaco uses the same programming on some of their coaches as CC but has a different part#. This also throws an interesting wrinkle into the mess.
All of this info came from a SD engineer that I talked to at length.

In addition to programming the Sauer Danfoss part number also specifies the electrical connectivity and fittings.
For example the 1090409 has eight wires and two connectors. The six wire connector is for control data input from sensors and the two wires are for 12VDC power.
The 1090385 has, if memory serves me, three wires and one connector. Two of the wires are for power and the third is for control data input from the engine ECM.
These units are field programmable but programming requires a SD software product and a SD InfraRed device to communicate between the computer and the SD controller.
