TOYO Tires

Hi All,

Always confusion when this old man is involved.
I need to replace my tires. Presently have TOYO M140Z, 275/70R, 22.5". Very pleased with the ride and see no reason to use Michelins with their associated price. I have an excellent quote from a reputable local dealer. However, a call to his competition was met with "that tire has been discontinued. I have spoken to TOYO and they agree, the tire has been discontinued but could not tell me when. Another call to the first dealer who checked and said that they were not discontinued and that TOYO had inventory in their Lancaster PA warehouse.

Everyone confused by now?

Anyone have any input? By the way, the price was $405 per tire, installed.

What size? Toyo does not list a 275/70R, 22.5" for the M154.

Word from local Les Schawb is, Toyo will no longer sell tires for RV's, due to lawsuits over tire failure. Sounds like a catch 22 with the dealer not having full information. And what is the manufactured date on the tires in the warehouse? Would be very very careful, you may end up with a tire and no warranty behind it, if what I understand to be correct. Might need to ask more questions from several dealers to be sure of information. OR go with another brand and be safe.

Just put 4 new Toyo 12R22.5M111Z on the rear for $2331.00.
I'm happy with Toyo. Never happy paying $600 a unit but!!

Leonard,[/b] Toyo's official position is they do not recommend the use of their tires on Country Coach or National RV motor homes. Too many tires failures in 96 to 98 models.
I agree with yor comments on tire age and warranty. Dealer assure me tires are current and carry a full warranty but who knows?

After both of my two front ToYo tires blew out while driving at 60 MPH I have no issue paying the price for new Michelins. My life and my wife's life are worth more than the price of new Michelins.
Just say no to ToYo!

Isn't it fun trying to short out all the information. Local Les Schawb would not talk to me about Toyo when I needed a set of tires last May. Maybe it has a lot to do with dealer responsibility/experiance. Really hard to know. Good luck. Low air pressure is the #1 problem, after that???????????????

Remember to upgrade your tire size to 275 R80. You will have a much nicer ride, more margin of weight safety, and can run lower pressures. I installed them on my 98 Allure when CC was having all the recall issue with the 275R70's. TWI 98 Allure 30255.

Our 06 Inspire came from CC with Toyo 11R M120Z tires. If you read the application for 120Zs, they are for all position designed for local to regional haul and delivery use for stop and go situations. Gee, that is just the tire for a MH that is mostly driven over the road at highway speeds. Oh, another issue, the fronts are very close to grossed out with the max pressure of 120. Gee, why would they supply a coach that doesn't have a margin of safety with weight carrying and certainly on front tires ( not the operator overloading the front either). I cannot blame Toyo for these issues, CC supplied the tires on their machine. So, who's problem is this.

Check the specs on the diameter and the revs per mile, maybe a 275 R80 would be a better solution; if not, if 295 would fit, they would surely handle the weight. The other issue is separation between tires on the duals.

My Toyo's are 11R 22.5 154's that replaced the M124Z that replaced my original M120Z 11R 22.5 that came with my Inspire. I purchased the 154's in October 2008. My original Toyo's were from December (50th week) 2003 - I purchased my Inspire in April 2004.

Exactly right on both points.

When we bought new tire I found short haul all positon highway speed tires from Firestone - they work fine and saved hundreds along with a higher weight rating.

Nothing wrong wih Toyo tires IMHO.
While my front axle rating is close to the Toyo limits the actual weight is 3,000 lbs under that .limit. The only problem was the owner. As mentioned eariler today proper tire pressure is paramount. I let them get about 15 lbs low and then ran into 50mph side winds in the plains states. Killed the outer tread on the side fighting the wind in no time flat.

NOT Toyo's fault.

Don't forget the lawyers part in all this as well.

You need to check the DOT dates on the tires. If they are discontinued they might already be old. We do like our new Michelin's better than our Goodyears.

No, on my second set with 41,000 miles on the 04' Inspire. I was just stating that the 120's were replaced by 124's that are now replaced by 154's. Just mentioning the lineage history. I had to replace 1 tire in 2006 so I was given the 124 model and when I needed 5 new tires, due to age, in 2008 I requested the 124's but was told the 154's were the replacement tire.
