Your favorite April May RV trip?

Yahoo Message Number: 65848
We r enjoying winter in Az and thinking of taking a spring journey. Knowing there is so much travel experience on the forum, I would very thankful for others to share their late spring trips. Please give me as much detail as possible. Routes etc.

We r currently considering Savannah and Charleston, but open..

Thanks for your help

Jerry,

We have been on the road for 10 years (full timers) and Charleston, SC is our favorite city in the country. Savannah is also nice and surely worth the visit if you are in the area but still we will vote for Charleston. The 2 1/2 miles from the Visitors Center (very well done) down to the battery (the waterfront) is an experience in antebellum architecture and southern history.
There are countless excellent restaurants and all kind of tours including horse/mule carriages. For a campground we recommend the Campground at James Island County Park. All 125 sites have full 50 amp hookups and most can accommodate any size rig. The park is 600 acres on James Island a suburb of Charleston that is a bit difficult to get to but if interested I can give you detailed instructions on the easiest route in. It is an easy 15 minute drive in your tow to downtown.
We have spent the last 8 falls at JICP so we know the area very well. Contact me off line if interested in more details.

Jerry;

We were in the panhandle of Florida last year in May. I'd like to suggest two options.
The state park, TopSail Hill state park, which is just east of Destin. 3 1/2 miles of undeveloped beach, full 50 amp hookups, beautiful beach. Or you might want to consider, Bell Terra resort. This is just south of Foley, alabama. About 4 miles from Gulf shores.
Great place to stay, close to the gulf, really designed for class A's. Might find it a bit warmer than Don's idea of Charleston. Love Charleston, but as I get older, a warm beach is not bad!!!
