overweight Magna

Yahoo Message Number: 4829
I am a new member and recently bought a 97 Magna 36ft on a Gillig chassis with the 40 series Detroit engine. I had it weighed at Pamona and discovered that it was overweight on 3 corners. Has anyone else come across this problem?

We have a 96 Magna and found we also were overweight on the front. We wound up having to replace the wheels and tires because the way the Gillig chassis is designed, it has no problem carrying the extra weight, but the weak link is the tires and wheels. It is sort of a catch-22 because the weak link is really the tires but you have to replace the wheels in order to put the tires on. You will pick up your GVW by roughly 6000lbs by replacing the tires and wheels.
Tomorrow I'll be able to pull my records and give you the original tires and wheels we had and what we replaced them with.
