Keeping rodents from chewing wire insulation and rubber hoses

Yahoo Message Number: 67108
Wondering if anybody has a good solution fro preventing this. Something ate the insulation off the the wires and chewed up the hoses in her new Toyota pickup. Est. cost to repair over $5000.00. We have a lot of squirrels around the house and would like to prevent this from happening to our cars and coach.

Thanks in advance

Look into an ultrasonic rodent noise generator. BOB

Get a cat...

Those ultrasonic things don't work... maybe they work for a week or two...but after that --- no dice. (Yes, been there tried that.) -skip

Egon,

Several years ago I had to deal with squirrels who were determined they were going to build nests in all the hard to reach spots on our coach. By pure luck, I found a nest of torn paper towels and dried leaves around the turbo charger. That scared me into all-out war. Nothing worked until I placed a dozen ammonia soaked rags in strategic spots.
Inside the coach, someone suggested a cat. Cats are great but ours like to play with their food and that can get messy.
I've been happy with the ultrasonic repellent devices. I had to return the first three because I could hear them and they drove me crazy. Finally found some (same brand, but quiet) and we haven't had a mouse in the coach in two years. As usual, YMMV.

The best thing I have found for repelling rodents is "Balsam Fir Oil."

It is the active ingredient in a product called "Fresh Cab."
Fresh cab can be purchased at: http://www.earth-kind.com/
Fresh Cab is the easiest way to go, as you just place the packets where needed.

Replace them every few months for the best results.

Balsam Fir Oil can be purchased at most health food stores and online.
