Follow up on Gates fuel hose

Yahoo Message Number: 67167
Hello Folks

I have recently talked to a retired Gates hose salesman who talked to one of the chemist that designs the Gates hose. Mr. Chemist has stated that since the new fuels (USLD) are using more benzene (sp?), the older hoses deteriorate faster. The newer hoses are made with more nitrile (I think he called it) that holds up much better to the higher benzene ULSD fuels. He recommended that Napa has Gates' newer "Barricade" hose that will work much better. I saw size 6.3 (~1/4") on Napa's website for $1.89 P/F. He also mentioned the Gates "MP1" hose which is even better (maybe for fuel injection?) for $5+ P/F. I asked him about "Blue Stripe" Gates hoses at Napa and he wasn't familiar with it. Anyone heard of, or used the Gates Barricade hose? Thanks Larry, 03 Allure, 30856

Thanks for sharing! Working for Cat I know their hose shop is on top of this, Like you will try NAPA first then Cat for push on hose for the Generator upcomming change. Having an older coach Im concernd on Engine Supply/Return and filter flex hoses. Time will tell. Lord knows we dont need any fires due to fuel and age! Ken 99 Allure 30356 Thanks Larry.
