Norcold 1210 Failure

Yahoo Message Number: 67225
Once again our Norcold 1200 ser. #9990533 has failed. I keep the display in "Diagnostic" mode to monitor the fin temps. This morning the reading jumped from 21 to 89 degrees and the interior light doesn't come on.
Checked all the fuses, connections, put it in bypass mode, pulled power, ohmed the thermistor etc. etc.
The display doesn't work normally either. Now when I try to check the other settings for error codes or function I can only change numbers by ustng the On/Off button not the mode button. Also the On/Off button will not turn the unit off. There are no error codes showing.
The "over temp" recall has been done. Our controll board does not have the pin #15 referred to in the service manual so I have not been able to do the Power Board Reset.

Any ideas?

Jim,

If you do a Google search for "Norcold 1210 service manual" you will find the service manual that has a step by step trouble shooting flow chart. This is easy enough to do yourself. My frig did the same as you describe and the flow chart pointed to the optical display. I removed the optical display, cleaned the connections and put it back together and it has worked every since. I was lucky, you may not be so. The trouble shooting guide will point you in the right direction without just pending money on parts you may not need.

THANK YOU DAVE!!!

Did that and IT's ALIVE again.

Just messed with the connections on the board, 2 plugs, and it looks like it's working. We'll know more in the morning.
We're in Ajo, AZ so if you are by this way I'll buy a TALL one and dinner.

Thanks a bunch,
Jim

We'll that's good news, you got lucky. Over the years I have learned the first thing to check are wiring connections because these houses we drive shake, rattle and roll down the road. I'am in Virginia so I'll take a rain check on the tall one! Maybe Perry, GA in March?
