Fresh Tank Sensors

The fresh water tank readout on the Silver Leaf is stuck on 75%. I believe the 100% is functional, just haven't filled it that full yet. I'm suspect of the 75% sensor on the outside of the water tank.
Does anyone know the theory of how these work and possibly the manufacturer?

On our 2006 Magna, the fresh water sensors are 4 small square devices attached on the outside of the tank. They are wired together and read moisture through the tank. I had a problem with my tank running out of water and still showing 25% on the Silverleaf. To find the problem, I started when the tank was empty. I even opened the drain solenoid vales to make sure all the water was out. Again, the Silverleaf showed 25%. I then covered one sensor at a time with my hand while my wife watched the Silverleaf. Starting with top sensor, when I covered a sensor the level would change. When I covered the bottom sensor however, there was no change. This meant that the sensor was either bad or "saw" water in the tank. I carefully pried off the sensor and with it hanging free, the Silverleaf went to 0. I put it back on the tank just a little higher (1/2 inch) than where it was originally. I haven't had a problem since.
My guess is that the sensors change resistance with moisture and the Silverleaf measures the change.
If yours are like what I described, you could call Silverleaf to find out more about them.

I had the same issue as Roger and had to move the bottom sensor up abou a half inch. Just used tape to move it around and get it right.I also had the 75% sensor fall off the tank, Used Gorilla Glue to reattach them.

Thanks for the explanation. My sensors are as you describe. So far it's been a futile effort finding anything comparable on the web. One (external type) I've found is a capacitance-type, but I don't think ours operate that way. I'll try your suggestion.

I had the same issue with my holding tanks. With the tanks completely empty they still indicated 25%. I removed all of the sensors and reattached them with 3M VHB foam adhesive, available from NAPA. The indication has been very accurate since I made the modification. I will send you via email the exact dimensions of the sensor locations on the tank if you like.

The puzzling part for me is the sensors have performed "as designed" for the last 3 years, or since the coach was new.
But, with that said, please do send me the dimensions you used..........I assume on the black tank (only??).........
