Headlight Upgrade?

I find the headlights on my 2006 Allure are not bright enough. Does anyone have a source for brighter bulbs? (I saw an RV shop posted on previous posts, but really don't want a total revision, just a cost effective fix.)

I have the same opinion but have the additional concern that our low beams may be aimed too high.
Seldom to we have the opportunity to use the high beams and when we do there doesn't appear to be a significant difference in lighting to the front. The greatest difference seems to be side lighting which is much better with the high beams.
Aiming is necessary because we are constantly flashed by oncoming traffic who think I haven't dimmed for them. We are presently going through some ride height issues and new front tires so I will have the headlights aimed when that work is done.
With all the new and brighter bulbs on the market I too have wondered if there is an improved solution. Looking forward to the groups response.

Sylvania and others probably make higher output (whiter)bulbs which help some. I put them in my Allure and the effect is noticeable but not dramatic; but, also not expensive.

I have been searching for a solution to dim headlights also. I have tried the Sylvania and PIAA bulbs and there was no noticeable difference. They are all 55 - 60 watts. I replaced one headlight assembly that had about 2 cups of water in it. This was an improvement. However, it is not as bright as I expected. I have discovered that if I run a clip lead from a front run panel battery terminal to the headlight connection the lights get a little brighter. There is no improvement if I do the same on the negative side. It appears there is a small voltage drop in the coach wiring. I haven't had a chance to investigate further. I have looked into the HID lights and that's a little spendy.

If you want to get crazy, I run 85/100 bulbs in my Jeep but I had to upgrade the wiring. I run separate wires and relays to both the high and low beam.
You will have light, and I have not been stopped or ticketed YET. I don't drive the motorhome at night so I haven't gotten that aggressive.

OK, different tack, does anyone know what OEM are the headlight assemblies on the 2006 Allure?
I try not to drive at night because most golf carts have better headlights......

My best guess for the OEM of 06 Allure headlights is 1998-2002 Lincoln Navigator.

I looked at Sylvania and Phillips as you have suggested, thanks. They have brighter bulbs BUT the bulbs have shortened lifespans. Anyone had any problems with the shorter bulb life?

I have had them in my Allure for three years and my Yukon for about four years. I carry the originals as a back up.

06 Allure tail lights OEM is 2002-2005 Dodge Pick-up. However Country Coach did not use OEM headlights, or Tail lights. They were "Cheap Copies" made in Taiwan. Look on E-bay for more info.

Over the past 2 years I've replaced both taillight assemblies -- one burned/shorted out and the other due to corrosion. Now I have a rear brake light problem due to corrosion of the socket that plugs into one of the assemblies and can't find a source or part number. Even went into a NAPA and we went through the catalog and can't find it. Local Dodge dealer wanted to sell a complete wiring harness only and not just a socket w/pigtails.
BTW, I have the light working for now after using some contact cleaner but it's corroded pretty badly and am guessing that the other one is too.

E-Bay has the part you are looking for. "DODGE RAM TAIL LIGHT SOCKET CIRCUIT BOARD MOPAR OEM NEW", however this is an OEM part and your tail light, if like mine, is a Taiwan Copy. I to have had socket problems due to the poor quality of the Taiwan products

Once you get the socket needed, then get a tube of dielectric grease, and grease up the socket where the bulb goes etc. It will end any moisture problems in the future. Most autoparts stores stock this stuff.

2002-06 Dodge Ram Pickup Truck tail lights. If you change them out, Dodge no longer sells the small plastic cups that hold the tail light tabs to the coach as individual items. Only included with OEM tail lights and NOT included on the aftermarket ones.

Steve, typically what happens is a little corrosion gets started between the light contacts, and a poor connection results. As the connection gets worse it creates heat, and the heat causes more corrosion, until most of the current is in the contact, not the filament of the bulb. The grease excludes oxygen, and corrosion cannot get a start. I agree we need to get the best quality hardware available, but the grease will help on any quality part. Lots of people going to LEDs to decrease current and provide a more trouble free connection. You can find substitutes for most popular bulbs out there.
You may know all that, but those subtle aspects may give you some comfort in using a flimsy part (with grease) if you cannot find something better.

I wonder if you could hard wire one of those LED lights that have the sticky backing that you could fasten to the back of the lens assembly. What about a wrecking yard?

Replaced 2 PC boards several years ago
I purchased a 2002-06 Dodge Ram tail light from a truck salvage yard in Junction City, OR for $25 and discarded the tail light while retaining and installing the pc board. The other was purchased from a Taiwanese mfg for $45. The Taiwan part has had some intermitant problems. I would definitely purchase the tail light from a junk yard.

The OEM part from CC was $90.
