Power Seat Passenger Foot-Rest not Working

Yahoo Message Number: 67930
On our passenger side seat (the 6-way Kustom Fit Power Adjustable seat) the Power Foot Rest up/down mechanism is out of whack. I have not taken a look yet and need advice/guidance.
The gears(?) are giving a misalignment type sound, which makes me think they are plastic, and the foot-rest won't move. The only thing I can add is that Jeanne used the up/down leg rest a lot! Might a plastic gear be worn down?
Does anyone have experience with this or a related problem and can offer direction, before I start dismantling the seat?

Lee,

I had the same problem with my passenger seat. You are right the gears are plastic or nylon. In my case the housing surrounding the gears had separated and allowed the female portion of the gear system to disengage. I was able to use a hose clamp to hold the gears in position. The fix has worked for over a year now. My wife tries to take the load off the footrest when she raises it now. I won't mention her shoe size or I will be in deep trouble.

In my case, the screw-mechanism that raises and lowers the footrest was catching on an errant metal seat spring. It would occasional catch and prevent the foot rest from going up or down and caused the plastic gears to skip.

Lee,

I have that same problem. Lazy Days said it's a gear but I haven't gotten it fixed as they didn't have the part.
