roof / sidewall seperation

I own a 1995 Intrigue. The roof cap is seperating from the sidewall. Thw seperation is about 3 feet long and the gap between the roof cap and the sidewall is about 1/2 to 3/4 inch. Has anyone had this problem and how did you fix it ?

Joe we had this issue on our '98 Intrigue a few years back. On ours the roof cap fits over the sidewall and overlaps about 1.5 inches. CC used self taping hex head screws that screw through the roof and sidewall and into steel square bar vertical support. The screws are under the molding that is at the top of the side wall. It is not too difficult to get off but it is a bear to put back on.
They used approx a #8 screw. To repair it we drilled new holes 3/8" from the old screw rather than try to drill out the old screw and we used a #12 screw for a replacement.
We found it very difficult to pull the roof down enough to close the gap which was from 1/2" to 1". We had to pull it down little by little progressively turning each screw a couple of turns at a time and then moving to the next one. If you try to pull it all the way down at one screw you will either crack the roof or pull the screw through the fiberglass or ring off the screw.
Of course we then caulked the remaining gap between the panels with urethane sealer.
