Trouble Shooting Radiator Fan Problems

Hi Coach Owners,

Currently there is a lot of posting on this subject.
Most of the information for the DS controller configurations is found in the Files section under Fan.pdf and the rest in wiring diagram S0699 or its later version.
Some coaches use the engine ECM for fan control.
Here are some observations for DS controlled fans.
1. Failure 'open'(normal type of failure) of the air or coolant sensors will not put the fan in high rpm but shorting of either or its wiring will.
2. The dash air solenoid will put the fan in high rpm.
3. Loss of 12 vdc to the DS controller will put the fan in high rpm.
4. The high-low compressor pressure switch will put the fan in high rpm.
5. Poor connection of the 12 vdc connector to the DS controller will put the fan in high rpm.

Fred,

Would you help me understand what compressor you refer to in item 4 of your post? I thought I had figured out my desert storm problem but was not aware of a possible hi-lo compressor pressure switch issue.

Thanks,
Jose Ferrer
