A/C Problem?

Yahoo Message Number: 70027
I have the low profile RVP Heat Pumps, 1 of the units the Compressor kick on and back off immediately, after a short time it will do the same thing again, it does this both of A/C and Heat Pump Mode.
Does anyone have a clue as to what the trouble may be? I read some notes on Tips and it says that Freon is not likely to be the problem, at least not always, I see no sign of a leak. I pulled the cover off and did not see anything unusual, and the Coils are Clean and Filters are Clean..Any ideas..

Sounds like you've blown a start cap. Call RVComfort and they'll send you a start kit, it's an easy install.

Jim

Does the fan run? If not, then the compressor will kick out on high head pressure and then restart when the pressure bleeds off. Sometimes the fans will get sticky bearing sleeves and require lubing. Also, low freon will cause the same.

How cold is it outside?

If it's below approx 40 then they heatpumps won't work.
Ours will do exactly the same if it's too cold outside.

Thanks to all, The fan and all is working OK, it is just the Compressor that kicks in and then out, everything else is normal, just not putting out cool air or heat, in the heat mode...I'm thinking that is is the start capacitor...like Jim said.. I will try RV Comfort tomorrow... Thanks to all.

There is a 3 amp fuse on the circuit board up there. You have to take the cover off when you're up on the roof, and there's a metal box you'll see. Inside the metal box is a circuit board, and you'll see the 3 amp fuse that can fail on one edge. I'm told by an RV tech that some people are replacing it with a 5 amp fuse. Be careful up there because there are 2 capacitors that carry quite a charge. For sure you should turn all of your power off, but I'm sure you know that.

Had the same problem and order the Cap/ starter from Rv Comfort and installed it yesterday. Works just fine now.

Simple.

In a campground we pay for electricity. So why use my fuel when I can use the electricity I've paid for. Call me mean but money is money!

You have already paid for the electric in your park fees. Why pay for propane also.

Marvin Does the compressor start then cut out or just humm real load. If it just humms them it is the start capacitor.
