Cruise control

It looks like the trouble I have with a thermostat, isn't the thermostat. Component elimination points at the control board on the front a/c unit.
Now onto the next problem.. The cruise control has stopped working. Noticed this soon after installing the necessary wiring to flat tow a car. I had to add a pump control circuit and break into the air brakes for the towed. I thought I had cut into something I shouldn't have, but since then I have disconnected anything I added.
The silverleaf moniter indicates the cruise has engaged. I have checked the fuses for the Smart Wheel and the 6 fuses that power the engine computer

Any ideas?

Hi Tom

My cruise control quit working and someone on this forum told me to lift up on the brake pedal and try engaging you cruise control. That worked for me so now when it doesn't work I go through that procedure and it works every time. Good luck

Tom, I had a similar problem which eventually included faulty wiper and horn..... it turned out to be a bad Smart Wheel Clock Spring loom. Easy to check with an electrical continuity checker. The clock spring lives in the center of the steering wheel hub; is a loom wound like a clock spring. Over time a wire (or two or three!) in the loom may work-harden and break.

Cruise control fixed.. I had pulled a connection apart that went to the engine computer. After reconnected, I still had to pull the fuses from the engine computer to force a computer re-start.
