CC Model levels

Can someone list the CC model levels in either ascending or descending order and the basic differences between the models ?? I don't want a complete sales type pitch / description just a rough idea.

I believe Intrigue or Affinity is on one end and Magna on the other ?? But I have not been able to find a definitive listing anywhere.
Even the CC web site is somewhat vague.

Thanks in advance.

Michael,

Just to add a bit, on the CC web site, the models are listed at the left, after selecting a model, all std and options are listed, as is the starting price under "specifications".
You will note that as the price goes up, many features that were options are now included as std, so some math is required to see the true cost diff.

And to determine the actual differences, i.e. difference in weight of steel, etc, takes some discussion with CC tech support and a factory tour. The differences are not made easily available. Our final decison? There wasn't much structural difference between our new Allure and the Magna. There was a difference in interior finish, but not enough to justify the difference in price. We decided the various models were more a matter of fitting the available market than a reflection of cost. P.S. Isn't there a new less expensive model now coming out? Doug 30929 Allure 03.

After raising the price of the Allure and all models above it $100,000 in three years, they had to come out with something for the under $200,000 market that the Allure filled in 2000.

When it comes to buying new motorhomes, there is no free lunch. The newly introduced less expensive unit is not going to be up to the construction technology (better ride is a result of higher weight), or durability of the higher line CC coaches. They may lose value quickly. The biggest reason that the prices of the coaches has escalated so much is that more and more technological changes (tag axles, double and triple slides),and gimmicks have been added: plasma Tv's, surround sound, GPS, state of the art electronic ovens, floor heaters, and more eloborate interiors, using better fabrics and decorator materials. CC adds their margin to all of there items.

Before you shop, you should decide what is important to you. One man's Allure is another man's Lexa (just like houses and cars).

The two biggest steps forward in design have been independent front suspension, in 2000 and dual slides (I think 2001 is when they first showed up).

Tag axles were brought in to accomodate triple slides. When triple slides flopped, CC had a bunch of chassis they needed to sell, viola: tag axles in the lower priced coaches. They will carry more gross weight, but they eat up a bay and the rear end pushes when you get into a corner faster than you should. The increased turning radius is not worth the cost,(to me).

CC took the gas/electric dual water heater out of some later units, which is a bummer, but the Hydronic Heat feature is a real winner, eliminating gas furnaces. Some of our friends have heated floors, which they swear by. Transferrable warranties have value, but read the policy and beware of the style that has all of the covered items listed. This is the sneaky was that they actually exclude components with high failure rates (those not listed)!

Magnas and Affinities have Cat engines (up to C12's with 505 hp) engines that flatten hills, and really trick electonics (they are all electric-bigger fridge). They are much heavier and ride better.
Suprisingly there is no big give up in mileage. The Magnas did undergo a chassis redesign (sometime in 2000 I think). If I were to buy one, I would go for one of the new series. I was really hot get a Magna for a while, but no job has cooled me off!!! I like having a paid off 2000 better than working.
The new units are usually discounted 25-27% off list and you can may get a $20-30,000 factory rebate on a year end model (the factory can tell you who has them). They are at the dealers on consignment and CC will bite the bullett when they want cash to use for putting new models out.

If you are price concious, I would recommend a used rig. The value is astounding when compare to the price of a new one.

If you look on line at RVONLINE.com you can see a good sampling of coaches. Put Country Coach in their search engine. There is a like- new tag axle 40" Intrigue with all of the options asking $249,000.00.
You can get a really nice 2000 Allure for $140,000. Some friends of ours have and Affinity that is in RVONLINE for $275,000 that has been decorated and babied to the max. It is a real beauty.
Non-slide rigs are cheap for what you get, but you can get seriously hammered on resale. Pre 2000 rigs with solid front axles are a really good value. The give up in turning ratio is(to me)a minor issue, and some like the ride and handling better. Some pre 99 rigs have Gillig chassis which have a real Rolls Royce ride.

If you are a little timid about buying a used coach on your own, Damon Rapozo is the top gun at Guaranty in Junction City and a member of this web site. He always has a number of great used coaches in his "hip pocket" that his customers need to sell in order to buy a new unit. The lower mileage on trade-ins in amazing, considering the chassis is probably good to go for a million miles and the engines last 500,000!!!!

People buy and move up on emotion, facilitated by long term financing and favorable tax laws (treated as a second home). The ugly part is if and when you decide to sell out (not trade up)and you are upside down. Incidentally, I expected my 2000 Intrigue (40" single slide- Cook's delight 350 engine, hydronic heat, walnut) to depreciate $10,000 a year. The increasing prices of the new ones has helped the more recent models to hold value (like Mercedes did in years past). I think I have lost more like $5,000, but who knows? Like we always need to remember in real estate; a listing price is not a comparable sale.

The best advice I ever got about buying a rig (from a Guaranty guy who has been around a long time), is to study all of the features: chassis, torque, horsepower, "house" features; entertainment equipment, heating equipment, GPS, etc. and THEN YOUR WIFE PICK OUT YOUR COACH!!!!

I followed his adivce and it really worked for me :-))

And yes it a real beauty!!!

Chuck,

This is a very thorough analysis. I just have to make one comment. Avoid a hydronic heating unit that does not include either a separate gas water heater or an intermediate storage tank with electric elements, like the plague! Anyone considering purchasing one should contact me.

I cannot comment on the Hurricane heat/water heater..... I have the Hurricane heat and a propane/electric water heater and wouldn't want it any other way. Both work great for me.
