Spare Tire Mount Revisited

County Coach Owners,

Message 70893 covers the subject prototype mount.
It's purpose is for 'limp home mode' only.
All know that it can take up to a week to find a fresh tire in stock or time to get it from a warehouse to a dealer. It also takes time to shop around and fine the best price. Tires can be installed on the way to a destination. That is what I have done in the past.
The tire you see in the photos section labeled Spare Tire Mount is one that was removed the last time new tires were purchased.
If some kind of tire failure occurs, road service will be used to remove and replace with the spare tire on the spot. Then later a new tire would be installed.
The four photos show a redesigned mount.

Thanks Fred. The description and the photos make an excellent survey of the issue.

Looks like a good design. With the side bracing it should be very stable.

Now that you have addressed the esthetic issues with your mount, you've really got something.
