Yes, we cut away some plastic and remounted it. Not sure if a picture will show much. Why not email me your regular email and we can discuss this further. I was not concerned with what we had to cut since we did drill new holes in the plastic to put the bolts back into.

John, regarding the missing Owner's Manual ...
I went round and round with Chrysler and finally got the missing book. It should have been included with the Wrangler but they claim that they are saving money because no one reads them anyway. Have you ever heard of anything so ridiculous??? Anyway, call Chrysler Printed Publications at 877-847-7166 and ask them for the "Jeep Wrangler Owner's Manual". It's a book that is 8x4 inches and 1-1/4 inch thick. It's just long enough not to fit in the glove box! But it is the missing manual that you are looking for, and it is free. Hope this helps.

I traded my 2008 Sahara Wrangler and now have a 20011 Jeep Rubicon. There is no Owner's Manual only a Users guide and a DVD with an owner's manual. The user guide says Park, 4WD neutral, Key in ACC, and disconnect the neg battery terminal. The "manual" ONLY says park and 4WD but nothing about the key and terminal. I suppose that means to a newbie that is all that is necessary. I read it and took it to mean Park and Neutral with (key and terminal implied)

I was curious about your statement and jacked the front up a little and was pleasantly surprised to see you were correct. There is no longer a steering wheel lock and of course you are right, nothing could be easier, Park, 4WD Neutral, key in pocket and off you go. What a great undocumented feature. I tied a rag to the wheel and as suggested by someone else and towed it about 100 miles. Worked great! Thanks

Jeep printed manuals are also available as a PDF download. BTW the printed manuals are cheaply done so once you open it to a page, be prepared for the binding to start to come apart. I've reglued mine twice now. I actually take the most important page, the RV flat towing and have copied it as a separate page in my glovebox for my wife.
