Parts Manual Series 42 Step

Yahoo Message Number: 74628
I'm looking for a couple of small parts for my step rebuild project. There are 4 rubber bumpers in the step. Does anyone have the part number for those pieces? I can't get any information from Kwikee their customer supports is terrible.

Thanks

Our local Lowes has all types of rubber bumpers that I'm sure would work; Don't know what part of the country you're in, but several home types stores carry them,

A couple years ago I bought some from Eagle's Pride in Titusville, FL (321) 383-0288. The lady said she had a hard time getting them. Sorry, I don't have the receipt, but they might have a record?

I have been to every hardware store in Tucson, I thought they would be a common item, so far no luck. I called Lazy Daze in Tucson and the parts guy is looking for me. I thought someone might have a step parts manual. It seems to be an elusive part.

Thanks

I loaded a picture of the part. It's the small round rubber piece. if you expand you can get a better look at it.

Jack,

I recently had Caterpillar rip my steps off my coach pulling it into their service bay. If mine are still good you are more than welcome to them. I just got a new set in and still have not installed them. I was thinking about going to get it to work on it in the very near future. How big of a hurry are you in? Kevin Burns

Thanks Kevin. Thats very generous of you. I am talking to Kevin Waite and he suggested NAPA for something that would work. I'll try them tomorrow. I posted a picture of the ones that I need, as you can see if you blow up the photo this one is damaged and the other one was missing the rubber. If I runout of local options maybe we can talk again about what you have.

Thanks,

Hi Jack, A few years ago the rubber stop bolts on my steps were cut entirely through the rubber to the metal backing. I called Kwikee and they sent me some new ones, but I think things have changed there and now they don't even answer the phone. I wrote a letter to them about the problem with the way the stop bolts were installed. If you go to the files section and look at "Ltr to Kwikee.doc" you can see that letter. I do not remember seeing any of those stop bolts at Lowes or Home Depot.

Jack,

Kwikee tech support use to send these out for free but they probably would still sell them to you. I am sure that there was a part number but Kwikee referred to them as rubber bumpers. I have not used their support in years so it may have changed.
I entered this "rubber bumpers with threaded stud" into Google and came up with this.

They probably have what you are looking for or you could try someone different at Kwikee.

Jack, you should be able to relocate those stops to a different hole so the "sharp" edge of the step does not contact the stop, but rather the flat metal of the step. I relocated mine years ago and am still working with the first replacement stops.

Jack,

I had a local dealer order the parts from Kwikee(bolts with rubber bumper bonded to them). I was charged about $11 for the pair. I think it was their cost because of an order error. If you can't locate them I can give you the name/phone number of my shop so you can order them if you like.

Don,

Yes I'm looking at that as soon as I get the new bottom rails back in the frame.

Hi Jack,

I cut a couple of Dometic compressor mounts and put them on bolts. Not sure if you can use the original bolts with the flat heads. I have some of these mounts. For some reason the nice lady at Dometic sent me a whole bunch of them gratis. Or I think they were. But they worked. They have to be there or the steps will start coming out on their own.

If you want some, let me know.
