baseboard heater work only intermittenly

I am wondering if anyone has experienced problems with the three electric fan baseboard level heaters in the bedroom and in the kitchen and under the dashboard. Recently on an outting to Estes Park, our heaters worked only intermittenly during the night and we found the room tempeture to be 52 degrees in the morning. I checked the thermostate multiple times but the heaters only came on once in a while and then shut off. Could it be the thermostate or some other problem.

Have you had your hydro-hot (Aqua-hot) serviced lately? It should be done annually. You could have a bad fuel filter, bad nozzel, bad hoses from the fuel tank allowing air into the system. The boot that hangs down below the unit can have partially collapsed preventing air from entering the combustion chamber, a bad control relay pack that turns on and off the master circulation mixture pump. Do you hear the fans running at the same speed. The the hot water area circulation pumps could have intermittent connections, temperature sensors that activate the burner could be defective, bad connections in the electrical box where the electric heating element and sensors are located, a bad flame sensor, which caused me to have intermittent operation. All these issues which I have experienced and others such as a defective seal allowing to much air in to the combustion chamber, bad connection to and from the electronic circuit board.could be creating your problems. It took two HH factory techs, three independent techs 9 attempts over three years to get all the problems straightened out, including water and coolant leaks. The last three years have been trouble free, Oh and then there is the defective combustion chamber liner that has failed twice that could cause the hole unit to catch fire!

Roger Berke has a users group for Hydrohot and Aquahot; he is most knowledgeable and can lead you through a series of tests to determine the problem. You might start there; I 've been experiencing the same problem (although I get no heat at all) and have been troubleshooting for the past 4 months with no solution as yet. Hopefully, I'll hook up with Roger to actually fix it soon.
